A curated index of home brands we'd put in our own rooms.

A note before you browse

What the Shop is — and what it isn't.

The Creative Home Decor Shop is a buyer's guide in directory form. It is a hand-picked index of decor brands we trust — one click takes you to the brand's own site, where you browse and buy directly from them. We don't stock product, we don't set prices, and we don't take returns.

Every listing here earned its place. Our stylists source samples, live with the pieces in their own homes and in the homes of our readers, and only recommend what survives real rooms, real light, and real wear. Brands are never sponsored into the directory, and we disclose every monetized link transparently — as we have since the publication began in 2014.

  • Curated, not aggregated — only brands we'd personally use.
  • We link out — you buy from the brand, on their site.
  • No prices shown — we send you to the source for the latest.
  • Every monetized link is disclosed, plainly.

The vetting process

How a brand earns a spot in the Shop.

Out of every brand that applies, roughly 1 in 27 is accepted. Here's the four-step process every applicant goes through — same for a 2-person Etsy studio as for a 40-person lighting house.

  1. 01

    Application & portfolio review

The brand submits a portfolio, material specs, and production details. Our 6 ASID-credentialed stylists and our editor-in-chief, Maren Holloway, review for design intent, material honesty, and originality. Roughly 60% are passed at this stage.

  2. 02

    Sample sourcing & material audit

We order two to three samples per category and put them through a material audit — checking joinery, finish, weight, and consistency across batches. Brands that cut corners here don't move on.

  3. 03

    Real-room testing

Every accepted piece is photographed and lived with across at least three real homes — including the homes of our contributing stylists. We test for daily wear, lightfastness, and how a piece looks at 6 a.m. as well as 6 p.m.

  4. 04

    Editorial acceptance

A final review with Maren and the stylist team. Only brands that survive all three prior stages make the directory — and we tell every applicant, accepted or not, why we made the call.

Result: of the brands pitched to us since the Shop's 2024 launch, only about 1 in 27 is listed. The rest — we thank, and send on their way.

A Shop listing is a promise we make in our own name. We only put a brand here if we'd put it in our own homes — and if we'd put it in our mothers' homes, which is honestly the harder test.
